Impossible Animals Beginner Guide

Prerequisites

Starting fresh in Impossible Animals requires understanding the difference between your Pen (cash) and your Treadmill (combat levels). Follow this exact walkthrough to guarantee stable idle income and unlock your first rescued parent in The Wild.

A complete fusion result screen in Impossible Animals with the SAVE HYBRID button highlighted in green.
The whole result screen. Read the star row and the $/s figure before you press SAVE HYBRID.
The full parent picker in Impossible Animals, with unlocked animals in blue circles and a NEXT button at the bottom.
The parent picker. A padlock on a circle means you have not unlocked that parent yet.
A complete Desert zone screen in The Wild with an enemy health bar and the zone plate reading Desert Medium Recommended level 10.
The first fight. Watch the enemy health bar rather than the clock.

1. Make and Save Your Starter Hybrid (Redpaffe)

Do not fuse randomly at the start. Follow the proven beginner opening:

  1. Step onto the central fusion pedestal. Click "Pick a mom" and choose your first unlocked parent (e.g., Red Panda), then choose your second parent (e.g., Giraffe).
  2. Watch the fusion animation. On the result screen, you will see Redpaffe with 6 Stars and $15/s income.
  3. Critical Step: Immediately click the blue "SAVE HYBRID" button! Wait until the button text updates to SAVED ✓.
  4. Check your pen: Redpaffe will now roam inside your enclosure with a green $15/s label above its head, accumulating cash every second. You also unlock the Roblox badge "The First Hybrid".

2. Know Which Number You Are Improving

Never confuse cash stats with combat stats. Refer to this clear distinction:

  • Stars (★): Overall quality grade (3★ to 12★). Higher stars mean higher passive income.
  • Income ($/s): In-game cash earned per second inside your pen.
  • Combat Level (Lv.): Gained exclusively on the treadmill. Increases Max HP and attack damage for The Wild. Combat levels do not increase $/s cash! (Proven by a hybrid trained from Lv. 1 to Lv. 506 maintaining the exact same $429/s).

3. Prepare One Fighter Hybrid

To venture outside and rescue new animals, you need one dedicated combat fighter:

  1. Step onto the Treadmill and select the hybrid you want to train from the "Pick a Hybrid to train" list.
  2. Let it run until its XP reaches 100 to gain its first combat levels.
  3. As soon as you collect $5,000 cash from your roaming hybrids, purchase the Jade Charm from the upgrades stall. This doubles your training speed (x2 levels while training), cutting training time in half.
  4. Only move to combat when your fighter has some levels behind it. Desert shows Recommended Level: 10, and a recording shows a player passing a level-10 zone with a level-9 hybrid, so read the label as advice rather than a gate.

4. Enter The Wild and Choose Your Reward

Once your fighter is ready, click The Wild button on the main screen:

  1. The prompt asks you to "Pick a Hybrid for The Wild". Always choose your trained fighter with the highest combat level—not necessarily your highest earner!
  2. Select Grasslands (Easy, Recommended Level 1). Navigate the path and defeat the basic enemies (such as Jerboawl, 50 HP).
  3. After clearing the enemies, enter the room with glowing pads that says "Pick a Reward, or keep going".
  4. Stand on the pad offering an animal cage (e.g. Owl or Skeleton) to rescue it, or choose a treasure chest or egg.
  5. Click "Return to Pen" to exit safely with your unlocked reward!

5. Fuse Your Newly Rescued Parent

Back at your home base:

  • Take your newly rescued parent (e.g., Owl) and fuse it with Ant on the pedestal.
  • This creates Antowl, a massive 9-Star hybrid earning $133/s!
  • Save Antowl to your pen to replace or supplement your starter income.

Common Beginner Traps to Avoid

  • Clicking New Fusion Before Save Hybrid: Save first and confirm the button reads SAVED ✓. A recording shows a player losing a fusion this way. Whether that hybrid is gone for good, or can be produced again by fusing the same pair, is not confirmed.
  • Training for Income: Spending hours running on the treadmill will not raise your cash rate. Only better recipes increase income.
  • Entering The Wild with an Untrained Hybrid: Entering combat at Level 1 will lead to swift defeat. Train on the treadmill first.
  • Pen Full When Hatching Eggs: Incubating eggs require an open slot in your pen. Sell or evict 3★ $1/s starters to make room.
Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I forget to click Save Hybrid?

A recording shows a player fusing a hybrid, leaving without the save, and returning to fuse the pair again. What exactly happens in each case is not fully recorded: the result screen shows SAVE HYBRID changing to SAVED ✓, and one narration describes a hybrid that was not kept. Save first, then check the pen before assuming anything was lost.

How do I increase my pen capacity?

Upgrade your pen using cash earned from your roaming creatures. Pen Level 4 (7 slots) costs $2.5M in-game cash.
